POCATELLO — The 65th skiing and snowboarding movie by Warren Miller will be shown at the annual Pocatello Ski Swap at ISU on Saturday.

Miller is considered an icon in ski-movie filmmaking and has been producing movies about the sport for over 60 years. His new film, titled “No Turning Back,” is about the evolution of skiing and snowboarding and features alpine athletes hitting the slopes in Greece, Japan, Switzerland, France, Norway, Montana, Alaska and Colorado.

The film will be shown on Saturday at the Bengal Theater at 3 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the show. The matinee price for the 3 p.m. showing is $7.

According to Bob Ellis, outdoor recreation coordinator for the Cooperative Wilderness Handicapped Outdoor Group (C.W. HOG), the movie’s inclusion with the Swap is a great way to kick off the winter skiing season.

The Swap is the primary fundraising event for the Pocatello Ski and Snowboard Association. It helps fund four youth trips (they receive free bus service and reduced ski rates), the Pebble Creek Youth Ski Team, and disabled skiers’ events with the C.W. HOG program at ISU. All of the organizations represented are not-for-profit and supported by volunteers.

At the event, skiers and snowboarders can find a large selection of skiing and snowboarding equipment from both private parties and area businesses.

“It’s a good place to get a good deal on equipment,” Ellis said.

According to Ellis, last year’s ski swap attracted 3,000 visitors.

The Swap will be held in the Pond Student Union Ballroom and begins today at 6 p.m., with an early access admission price of $10. The regular swap begins at 7 p.m. and continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Regular admission is $2.

Private equipment check-in is today at 11 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. All private equipment that isn’t sold can be picked up from 3 p.m. through 5 p.m. on Sunday.
