JEROME — A motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital early Saturday evening after a crash that shut down a stretch of Interstate 84 southeast of Jerome for more than an hour, according to Idaho State Police.

The crash happened at approximately 6:06 p.m. when a 49-year-old man from Gresham, Oregon, riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson FXDBI westbound on Interstate 84, left the freeway and entered the median.

The man was not wearing a helmet, according to state police.

He was airlifted by an Air St. Luke's helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment.

His name and condition haven't been released.

The roadway was blocked for approximately an hour and a half because of the crash.

Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by the Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Magic Valley Paramedics and Jerome Rural Fire.

The crash remains under investigation by state police.
