BLACKFOOT — A 21-year-old man from Jackson, Wyoming, died Friday evening after the SUV he was driving left the roadway and overturned in Blackfoot, according to Idaho State Police.

The crash happened at approximately 6:55 p.m. Friday as the man was driving a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer westbound on Wooton Way near Eagle Way, state police said. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped, coming to rest in a nearby gravel parking lot.

The driver was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. His name hasn’t been released.

State police said the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
