It isn't homecoming without the traditional parade and despite the economy, this year's will be better than last.

"We were a little worried about the parade this year with the way the economy has been, but we have just as many people signed up for the parade as we did last year," said Jason Sperry, business manager at Idaho State University student union.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. today at East Center Street and 15th Avenue in Pocatello. This year's theme is "Cruising with the Cats!" Everyone that participates has to incorporate ISU into everything they do.

"They have to wear ISU clothing, or it has to be black and orange. If they make a float it has to represent ISU and this year's theme," Sperry said.

If there is one thing that they are worried about, Sperry says it would have to be the weather.

"There is a good chance that it could rain or snow during the parade. We know people will come out, and enjoy this event with us, but the weather might affect how many people can attend," Sperry said.

Sperry says they have one very interesting thing about this year's parade, in the number of new businesses they have participating.

"We didn't know how many business were going to join the parade, and how many were going to pass because of the entry fee," Sperry said. "We did get a lot of new small businesses that just started up this year. They are looking to get their name out in the community," Sperry said.Home
