POCATELLO - Tim Magnuson picked up one of a number of petri dishes laid out across his black laboratory counter and pointed to a group of specks scattered inside the clear, palm-sized plastic plates.
The microbiology teacher explained that a halo-like circle around a speck indicates bacterial growth, a positive first sign for his research on ethanol.
