Drunk driver crashes into Temple's fence on South 2nd East

An alleged drunk driver crashed into a gate at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Rexburg Temple on Friday.

Rexburg Police arrested a suspected drunk driver who crashed into a fence on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Rexburg Temple property Friday.

“Officers were dispatched to the area of the temple on S. 2nd E. for reports of a vehicle which had rammed through the fence of the temple grounds,” police stated on their Facebook page. “Once stuck inside the grounds, the vehicle rammed another gate to get out of the property.”

Police reported that witnesses and a debris field helped officers track the suspected vehicle.

“After investigation, the driver was arrested for malicious injury to property, leaving the scene of an accident, and DUI,” stated officers.

Police reported no injuries.
