BURLEY — President Dallin H. Oaks, the leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will dedicate the new temple in Burley this weekend.

The dedication will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, on the temple grounds at 40 South 150 East, according to a news release from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Oaks will be accompanied by his wife, Kristen.

Other church leaders who will be present at the dedication include Elder Steven R. Bangerter, executive director of the Temple Department, and Elder K. Brett Nattress, General Authority Seventy.

The temple was announced during the April 2021 general conference by then President Russell M. Nelson. The church broke ground on the Burley temple in June 2022.

The temple is two stories tall and is about 45,300 square feet. The property that it stands on is approximately 10.1 acres.

The Burley temple is the 11th in Idaho.

Idaho is home to 480,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church has about 1,275 congregations throughout the state.

The public was invited to tour the temple for over two weeks. The open house period ended in November.
