BLACKFOOT — The City of Blackfoot is lowering the speed limit on Last Street, Mayor Paul Loomis said Tuesday.
The narrow street has caused some traffic and pedestrian safety concerns, he said, adding that vehicles sometimes have to pull over to let other vehicles pass.
City officials considered widening the street, turning the road into a one-way street, or limiting on-street parking, but citizens didn’t like any of those alternatives, Loomis said. Subsequently, officials decided to reduce the speed limit to 10 miles per hour to limit the risk to pedestrians, especially children, and vehicles traveling on the narrow street, he said.
