BLACKFOOT — As part of an ongoing process to annex areas that are surrounded by city boundaries and fall within the impact area, Blackfoot annexed three more properties this week.
The city council decided to annex properties at 1654 Center, 1720 Center and 195 Lansing during its meeting on Tuesday.
Only one person, Kirk Thurman, who owns the property at 1654 Center, spoke against the annexation on Tuesday. He said he bought the land more than 30 years ago to raise horses and cattle on and he still uses it for the same purpose today.
Although he realized that the property would eventually be annexed, he didn’t think it needed to happen until the use changed.
But the majority of the Blackfoot City Council members felt it was important to annex the properties that will obviously fall within city boundaries one day.
“We’re trying to button up pieces of property that are odd balls so that when development does happen, it will be even and measured,” Councilman Bart Brown said, adding that they don’t want to run into spot issues in the future.

Just another way to take away what is yours by the commie landlords called a city commission. What expansion are they talking about in Blackfeet anyway? Hasn't been growth in that dump in years.
