POCATELLO — Idaho State University announced that this fall it welcomed the largest number of first-time undergraduate students in 13 years.

The total fall enrollment at ISU was 13,933 students, which is an increase of about 6.6 percent compared to last year, according to a news release from ISU. First time undergraduate enrollment was 1,778, which is a 10.6 increase from last year. ISU is also celebrating a 73.8 retention rate.

The graduate enrollment for this fall is 2,105, a 3.44 percent increase from last year. Dual enrollment is projected to be up 5 percent year over year with 3,530 students.

The only decrease in enrollment was with new undergraduate transfer enrollment, which had a 4.6 percent decrease with 482.

ISU President Robert Wagner said in the news release that he is thrilled with this increase in enrollment.

“Our total enrollment, first-time graduate enrollment and graduate enrollment are all the highest since Fall 2012,” Wagner said in the news release. “Our 73.8 percent retention rate reflects our collective dedication and hard work in improving student success and shows the impact we have on the communities we serve.”
