POCATELLO — A local man is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest following a recent burglary at their Pocatello home.

During the early morning hours of Sept. 18, the home and shop at Ray Pierce’s property on Taft Avenue in Pocatello was burglarized, says his girlfriend Lisa Lete-Melton.

“I came home and saw the front porch light was on and the hairs on the back of my neck immediately pricked up,” Lete-Melton said. “I instantly knew something wasn’t right because I am a freak about shutting all the lights off.”

Lete-Melton says they believe the burglary happened shortly after 3 a.m. on Sept. 18 while they were out of town after seeing the porch light turn on around that time in video footage captured on a neighbor’s security camera footage.

Lete-Melton says thieves broke two of the home’s windows and once inside were able to locate the remote opener for the shop’s garage door.

“Thousands of dollars’ worth of stuff was stolen including a 1973 Corvette Stingray, a 1981 shovel-head Harley Davidson, a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, $1,000 worth of ammunition, home decor and more,” she said. “They took a laptop, TV’s law equipment, tools, bottles of lotion and other stupid stuff like junk earrings. I mean they took everything — stuff value from as low as $1.99 and up to $30,000.”

Since the burglary, the Corvette was found abandoned near Tough Guy Lanes in Pocatello and a blonde woman was spotted driving the car in Historic Downtown Pocatello on the morning of Sept. 19, Lete-Melton says.

Pierce and his girlfriend have documented over 40 stolen items and are still discovering more missing items daily.

“This was a major home robbery,” Pierce said. “I want the people who stole from me caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And I won’t stop until it happens.”

He added, “I’m glad I got my car back. I really want my Harley back. That bike means a lot to me and has a lot of sentimental value.”

Pierce is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the home burglary. The incident has been reported to the Pocatello police.
