An Idaho Falls man awaits a preliminary hearing on a felony charge of second-degree kidnapping.

Christopher J. Pena, 41, allegedly took a man from his Idaho Falls home, forced him into the trunk of his own vehicle and drove him to another residence on Feb. 13, according to court documents. Three other people were in that residence.

Pena, also known as Bomber, took the alleged victim to the apartment of a woman, who alleged that the man raped her years ago after putting lorazepam, an anxiety and insomnia medication, in her scrambled eggs, according to the Idaho Falls Police affidavit.

The alleged kidnap victim denied raping the woman and told police he was struck in the face multiple times by another man, who threatened to kill him. That man allegedly racked the slide of the gun and ejected a bullet before pointing the gun at the victim's head.

The people then permitted the alleged victim to leave. But first Pena took him to Pena's apartment, where he was allegedly forced to begin cleaning that apartment. 

According to court records, the alleged victim managed to contact a friend, who later contacted police.

Pena faces a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment and a $50,000 fine. His bond was originally set at $50,000 but later reduced to $30,000, according to court records. Pena posted bond on March 6. His preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Friday before Magistrate Judge Jacob B. Workman in the Bonneville County Courthouse.

No others have been charged in the case.

Pena also faces a felony charge of trafficking 28 grams or less of methamphetamine and two misdemeanors for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in an unrelated case.
