PRESTON - Two of Preston's largest private commercial building projects seem to be going head-to-head as to when they will finish. The Grolls Gym addition and the Webb Funeral Home are at about the same stages; both hope to be done before the first of the year.

Chris Groll said they are both at the sheetrock stage and he thinks the funeral home will go a little faster because they will have a bigger crew. Groll is doing his own sheetrock. The cement work on the State Street sidewalk of the building was completed and porches by the entryway were being poured last week.

Webb Funeral Director Ron Smellie said the contractors are telling him they should also be able to move into the building sometime in December. When finished, the 11,000 square-foot funeral home will have a lobby with a family/children's room where families can rest or get ready for viewings.

There will be a video area and toys for children to play with during viewings plus a large funeral chapel in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints style for people who would rather hold a funeral at the funeral home than a ward building.
