POCATELLO - An American Falls man who allegedly began throwing marijuana out his car window during a brief pursuit will be bound over to district court for trial.
Norman Turnbeaugh, 53, was pulled over Feb. 7 for allegedly speeding.
Police saw what appeared to be marijuana on his car seat. As an officer attempted to grab the suspected marijuana, Turnbeaugh drove off. During the half-mile pursuit, the man began throwing marijuana out his car window, according to the officers.
The officers collected the evidence on the ground and in the car, which was reported to be approximately one-half pound of marijuana. Turnbeaugh was charged with possession of a controlled substance and destruction of evidence, both felonies.
Turnbeaugh contested the state's charges at his preliminary hearing Wednesday, but Magistrate Rick Carnaroli determined the state presented a sufficient basis for the case to proceed to trial.
