Nepalese Students Association Presents

Third Annual Nepalese Night Feb. 7

Pocatello - The Idaho State University Nepalese Students Association will present the third annual Nepalese Night on the theme "Faces of Nepal" at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.

The celebration will feature a dinner with a variety of traditional Nepalese-style dishes, three group dances, two cultural solo dances, a performance by "ISU's own Nepalese rock band," a fashion show and more.

Nepal is a small landlocked country that is sandwiched between India and China. Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is located in Nepal. The country is the birthplace of Buddhism. It is a culturally diverse country that has more than 40 native languages. The national language of Nepal, Nepali, is only spoken by about 60 percent of its citizens. The country became a federal republic last year after being a monarchy for 239 years.

There are about 40 Nepalese students attending Idaho State University.

Tickets for the program are $6 for ISU students, $8 for faculty and staff and $9 for the general public.
