IDAHO FALLS TO HOST FINANCIAL TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS

Idaho Credit Union League and UI Extension Sponsor NEFE Teacher Training

(Idaho Falls) June 17, 2008 - Local credit unions have joined forces with the Idaho Credit Union League and University of Idaho Extension to offer High School teachers in the region the NEFE (National Endowment for Financial Education) High School Financial Planning Program on Thursday, July 10, from 8:30am-3:00pm, at University Place, Bennion Student Union Building, Room 109, 1784 Science Center Drive.

Craig Cobia of Beehive Federal Credit Union, one of the local sponsors, says community service programs like the High School Financial Planning Teacher Training are an important part of the credit union's mission.

"We are encouraging every high school teacher in the Idaho Falls region to take advantage of this free program," Cobia said. "Not only is the program free to teachers, but all of the teacher training aids and student materials are also free of charge to the schools."

Teachers will receive a free copy of the High School Financial Planning Program curriculum including an instructor's manual, student guide, and ordering information for free classroom materials; teachers will learn how to effectively use the High School Financial Planning Program curriculum in the six-hour session; teachers will network and share effective teaching ideas, best practices and additional resources; and can receive in-service credit from the University of Idaho (for an $82 fee and required assignment).

Sponsors of the free workshop, which includes breakfast and lunch, are: A + Credit Union, Advantage Plus Federal Credit Union, Beehive Federal Credit Union, East Idaho Credit Union, Members Preferred Credit Union, Pocatello Railroad Federal Credit Union, Potelco United Credit Union, and Pocatello Teachers Federal Credit Union, along with a National Credit Union Foundation Innovations Grant.
