POCATELLO - Cowboys and cowgirls coming to the Gate City for the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo will be packing golf clubs instead of skis this year.

The Coors Cowboy Golf Tournament will replace the Coors Cowboy Downhill ski race.

"We've always done a ski race, but the rodeo has been moved from March to April. Our ski area will be closed at that time, so we transitioned into a golf tournament," said Mark Villano, owner and president of Miller Coors Intermountain Beverage.

The rodeo, sponsored by U.S. Smokeless Tobacco, kicks off April 8, and the golf tournament is set for April 9, at Highland Golf Course, located at 201 Von Elm Lane.

The format is a five-person scramble, and players may sign up as a team or as an individual to be put with a team. The cost is $40 per person or $200 per team. Registration, which will begin March 1 and conclude April 3, includes green fees, cart, tee prize and a raffle ticket for prizes and merchandise.
