BLACKFOOT - City employees are paying higher health insurance deductibles to offset a 49 percent increase in premium rates, said city clerk Suzanne McNeel.
"Our rates took a drastic increase this past year," McNeel said. "What they had to do so we can afford it was to increase deductibles."
She said city employees, who are insured through Blue Cross, are paying 30 percent of deductible costs, as opposed to the previous 20 percent. Blackfoot employs approximately 105 workers, including police. City employees began paying the higher deductibles on Oct. 1.
