MACKAY - Rockland's defense kept the game close, but the Mackay Miners overcame that in the fourth quarter to beat Rockland 45-35.

This loss brings their record to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Rockland coach Vern Nelson was proud of his team's defensive effort which held the Miners scoreless in the third quarter.

"Defensively I thought our kids did a great job on Mackay," Nelson said.

However, the Miners broke loose in the final quarter running several successful pick and rolls that the Bulldogs couldn't stop.

"Mackay is a great team, and I'm proud of my kids for how hard they played," Nelson said.
