PRESTON - The big boys came to town, and the Preston football team didn't know what hit them.

Preston welcomed the reigning state champions and then watched as the Knights from Hillcrest proceeded to run all over the Indians, beating Preston 57-22.

"They knew who they were up against this week," Preston coach Shawn Marlow said. "They're ranked No. 2 in the state, defending state champs. I think we were a little intimidated right from the get-go."

Hillcrest started the game holding Preston to three and out, then proceeded to march 54 yards in five minutes for their first score. After another Preston three and out, Hillcrest went 79 yards in two plays. Brent Johnson, the Knight who scored the first touchdown, scampered 74 yards for the score.

When all was said and done, Hillcrest stacked 22 unanswered points on the Indians and the game was basically over.

"Hillcrest is a very, very talented football team," Marlow said. "We knew that coming in. I didn't think we were very into it the first half."
