SODA SPRINGS - The Soda Springs girls' basketball team picked up where it left off before the winter break when it blistered Butte County 55-22 at home Friday.

The Cardinals got off to what coach Wade Schvaneveldt called a sluggish start, leading just 10-6 after the first quarter. Soda Springs committed 13 turnovers in the first half.

The Cardinals buckled down in the second half, committing just four turnovers. They held Butte County to just two field goals after halftime.

"It was a good defensive effort by the girls," Schvaneveldt said.

Freshman Paige Anderson led the Cardinals with 13 points, and Shelby Johnson and Madie Kimball also reached double digits in scoring.

Soda Springs (12-0) next travels to play West Side today.
