BLACKFOOT - Grace held off Malad 39-37 on Thursday at Blackfoot High to move one game away from making the 2A state tournament.

Grace (15-5) plays North Fremont at 1 p.m. Saturday at Blackfoot, with the winner advancing to state.

The Grizzlies appeared to have Thursday's game in hand when they held a 14-4 lead after the first quarter. They led 30-22 entering the fourth quarter, but the Dragons outscored them 15-9 in the final period to make things interesting at the end.

"They made a heck of a run in the fourth quarter," Grace coach Kevin Smith said .

Grace ultimately held Malad off thanks to Kylee Jensen's 12 points and Nikki Hobbs' 10. Karen Cudney scored 15 to lead Malad.

Malad's season is over.
