BLACKFOOT — Local police are searching for a 19-year-old believed to have fled from a crime scene in Blackfoot Monday that resulted in multiple schools enacting “shelter in place” protocols.

A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Carlon Galloway after he was identified as a subject of interest in relation to an incident that unfolded around 10:50 a.m. in which Idaho State Probation and Parole officers observed “several subjects fleeing the area on foot of an active crime scene in the 300 block of Rice Street in Blackfoot,” according to a Monday news release from the Blackfoot Police Department.

Police have not said what crime Galloway is accused of committing nor have they provided any specifics about the crime scene on Rice Street.

After hearing of several subjects fleeing a crime scene, information was passed on to responding law enforcement officers that at least two of the subjects in question ran east across Highway 91 and were hiding in backyards and running along the railroad tracks near the Rich Street Apartments, police said.

Further information was broadcasted to responding units that one of the subjects may be in possession of a firearm.

Blackfoot Police notified School District 55 administration of the situation and the decision was made to place three public schools located on the southeast side of town into “shelter in place” protocol, police said.

One of the two subjects was located around 12 p.m. Monday and information was passed on to State Probation and Parole about possible pending charges for his involvement in the incident. Police confirmed this individual was not armed with a firearm.
