Southeastern Idaho Public Health will host a series of free public webinars on emergency preparedness for animal care providers. These sessions are fully virtual and will be held every Wednesday in May from 1 to 2 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time. The series is recommended for veterinary professionals, animal shelter and rescue workers, volunteers, and anyone else with an interest in the intersection of human and animal health and safety.

On May 6, the Red Cross will discuss its mass care shelter procedures, including how service animals, pets and livestock can be accommodated.

On May 13, the Public Health Preparedness planner will discuss founding an animal care subunit of the Medical Reserve Corps, a volunteer group in Southeastern Idaho.

On May 20, an epidemiologist will discuss current zoonotic disease threats in Southeastern Idaho that could present additional challenges during a disaster.

On May 27, an epidemiologist will discuss zoonotic diseases that are being monitored as potential future public health threats.
