POCATELLO — On Sunday, Oct. 20, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 401 North 5th Avenue in Pocatello, will celebrate its 106th anniversary during the 11 a.m. worship service. The anniversary date has been corrected due to additional research done by Pastor Beard, Bethel was organized in 1918.

The theme is “Ambassadors for the Kingdom”, 2 Corinthians 5:20-21, the guest speaker will be Pastor Emeritus France Davis of Salt Lake City, Utah.

The congregation under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus William S. Beard is so pleased to still be as strong as it is, much like those persons of faith who established the church in 1918.

On September 30, 2021 the National Park Service listed the African American Civil Rights in Idaho Multiple Property Documentation Form and Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Pocatello in the National Register of Historic Places.

Pastor Beard and his wife, Geraldine, who drive from Ogden, Utah, each Sunday, are a real blessing to Bethel’s congregation. Having served as Bethel’s pastor for 18 years (1989-2007) and then returning in 2012. Pastor Beard’s sermons are even more powerful than before. All who hear him in person and on social media are truly blessed. He is joined in the pulpit by Minister Bernard Stinson who is training for an evangelical ministry.

Thanks to technology, Pastor Beard conducts a weekly Bible study on Zoom, our present study is on the Gospel of Matthew from Dr. David Jeremiah Bible study series.

After service lunch will be served, all are invited to stay and fellowship as we continue to thank God for all His blessings on Bethel’s congregation.
