SHELLEY — The Annual Quilt Show is set to take place towards the end of the month for anyone who wants to show their support for the library.
The Quilt Show will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24 and Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the North Bingham County District Library on 197 W. Locust Street, according to the library’s website. This is the 27th year the event has been held.
“We are so excited to display your quilts,” the website said.
Quilts that will be displayed will need to be delivered to the library on Monday, Feb. 23. All quilts will need a 3x5 card attached to the front right corner with the maker’s name, city and quilt name written in print. Once the Quilt Show is over, they will need to be picked up between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
“Everyone who displays a quilt will receive a prize when your quilt is picked up,” the website said.
There will also be a raffle during the quilt show. The prize will be a Brother Pacesetter PS100 sewing machine that was donated by Jones Sew and Vac.
“All proceeds from raffle sales will go toward the Friends of the Library to help fund the new library building,” the website said.
There will also be a block contest at the Quilt Show. Participants will need to pick up their focus fabric at the library for $1/entry.
Participants will need to make a pieced or appliqued block of any pattern highlighting the focus fabric. The block needs to measure 12 inches and will need to be turned into the library no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. They will need to be labeled with the maker’s name and phone number pinned to the back.
The blocks will be displayed during the show, and winners of the block contest will be decided by popular vote. Everyone gets one vote per day during the show, and the winners will be announced at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The winners will receive cash awards.
The Craft Shop will be onsite at the Quilt Show to provide materials for any project, so participants are encouraged to come and shop.
The Quilt Show can be viewed live on YouTube. The link can be found on the library’s website. Participants must be present at the library to vote for the block contest and to shop.
