MONTPELIER - The Bear Lake boys' basketball team showed no ill effects of the holiday layoff, as it jumped ahead big early before crusing to a 68-31 win over Rich County (Utah) on Saturday.

The Bears led 20-4 after the first quarter and 45-16 at the half. Coach Brandon Carlsen said the formula for the domination was rather simple.

"We cut down on our turnovers. We only had six in the first half, which is good for us," he said. "We played good defesne, and we outrebounded them."

Jordan Crane led the way for Bear Lake (6-4) with 22 points.
