MALAD - The Malad boys' basketball team started strong Friday, and that proved to be the difference in a 50-45 win over West Side.

With the win, the Dragons finish their season 5-13 overall and 4-4 in 2A Fifth District play, while the Pirates ended the regular season with a 8-10 and 3-5 mark.

After the first quarter, Malad led 10-5, which ultimately ended up being the final margin of victory.

West Side's Josh Roberts led all scorers with 10 points, while Dallas Turnbow added 11 points for the Pirates. Jared Jones and Jade Clark led the Dragons with 15 points each.

The 2A Fifth District tournament begins Tuesday.
