AMERICAN FALLS - The American Falls boys' basketball team defeated Filer 37-28 on Wednesday and improved its record to 7-8.

Nate Villalobos led the Beavers with 11 points and Derrick Heinson added 10.

But what really set American Falls apart in this game was holding Filer to just two points in the third quarter. By scoring 11 itself, American Falls pulled away.

"It was a defensive struggle until then," coach Roger Thomas said. "We were able to make a few buckets and play really good defense. Any time you hold a team to two points a quarter, it's pretty impressive."

The Beavers next play at Snake River on Friday.
