Lewiston 56, Madison 48
NAMPA - Lewiston denied eastern Idaho a final state championship when it defeated Madison 56-48 Saturday in the 5A title game to close out the 2009 state tournament.
The Bengals gradually built up a lead throughout the game, ultimately getting up by as much as 10. The Bobcats, who play in the same conference as Highland, led only once in the game.
Helping Lewiston's cause was its proficiency from deep. The Bengals drained 8-of-16 3-point attempts. Jared Heitzman hit five of those on the way to a team-high 18 points.
Madison attempted more treys than its opponent by only went 5-of-19. Josh Fuller led the way for the Bobcats with 21 points, and Bo Dayton added 10 points.
