Glenns Ferry 62, West Side 45

It was a blowout performance in the third quarter by Glenns Ferry on Saturday at Capital High in Boise after West Side lost a player to a broken arm early in the period.

That blow was too much to overcome, and the Pirates lost their bid for a third-place finish in the 2A state tournament with a 62-45 loss.

"We were 20-20 at the half," said West Side coach Tyler Brown. "Then they went on a 28-8 run. They shot well during the third quarter."

Brown said sophomore Kyler Austin's arm was broken early in the third, and it shook his team up. They were unable to regain their form until late in the quarter.

"The third quarter was the turning point in the game," Brown said. "It was unfortunate that it had to happen."

The Pirates mustered a 17-point performance during the fourth quarter but were just unable to comeback, allowing Glenns Ferry 14 points during the quarter.

Brown said a splint was put on Austin's arm and a pin may have to be inserted on Monday to aid in the healing.
