POCATELLO — The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 is inviting the community to a Fine Arts Exhibition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The exhibition, titled "America Through the Eyes of Our Learners," will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1 during the Historic Downtown Pocatello First Friday Art Walk.

The exhibition will feature 200 works by K-12 students across the district, including photography, visual art, multimedia creations and poetry. Students worked on the pieces in class and on their own.

Live music performances by students will begin at 6:15 p.m.

The exhibition is part of the district's efforts to commemorate America's 250th anniversary by giving students opportunities to explore, reflect on and share what American history and ideals mean to them.

Awards will be presented across categories and grade levels, including Best in Show and People's Choice. The School District 25 Education Foundation is sponsoring $2,000 in prizes recognizing achievement and creativity.

Courtney Fisher, the district's communications director, said the exhibition is about giving students a voice.

"Through their work, our learners are sharing their perspectives, their creativity and what America means to them during this once-in-a-generation milestone," Fisher said. "We're proud to showcase that in our community."

Visitors are encouraged to vote in the People's Choice competition. They can also learn how to support the district by connecting with the School District 25 Education Foundation.
