Twin Falls 69, Pocatello 63

TWIN FALLS - Pocatello once again had no answer for Twin Falls post Jon Pulsifer in a 69-63 loss Saturday at Twin Falls.

Pulsifer scored 13 of his 24 points in the third quarter to help the Bruins outscore the Indians 22-8 during that span. Pulsifer scored 24 points during Twin Falls' 46-37 win at The Palace on Dec. 12.

"They just got out and got some easy buckets," Pocatello coach Lee Ralphs said.

Michael Decker scored 30 points to pace the Indians.

Pocatello (5-8) next hosts Burley on Wednesday.

West Side 48, Bear Lake 44

MONTPELIER - West Side withstood a late surge by Bear Lake for a 48-44 win Saturday at Bear Lake.

"They came out and wanted it more than we did," Bear Lake coach Brandon Carlsen said. "They were plain and simple more aggressive. We didn't match their intensity."

Bailey Thomas led the Bears with 16 points, while Josh Roberts led West Side with 18.

Bear Lake (8-7) next travels to play Grace on Wednesday.

American Falls 48, Soda Springs 31

AMERICAN FALLS - Nate Villalobos scored 22 points to lead American Falls to a 48-31 home win over Soda Springs on Saturday. The Beavers led 31-18 at the half.

"We playde probably our best game as a team," American Falls coach Roger Thomas said. "We moved the ball extremely well on offense, and defensively, we picked up our intensity and held it thoughout the whole game."

American Falls (6-8) next hosts Filer on Wednesday.

North Gem 29, Leadore 28

BANCROFT - North Gem survived Leadore's slow-down offense to prevail 29-28 at home Saturday.

The Cowboys trailed 17-11 at the half but outscored the Mustangs 14-7 in the third quarter to take a 25-25 lead into the fourth quarter. Each team scored four points in the final period.

"They just like to slow the ball down," North Gem coach Ken Christensen said of his opponents. "They just held it outside and passed it around. They were content keeping the score low."

Colton Davids, Mitchel Hall and Austin Wuttke each scored six points, while Justin White led the Cowboys with six steals.

North Gem (5-8, 3-2) next travels to play Sho-Ban on Wednesday.

Girls' basketball

West Side 27, Grace 22

GRACE - The West Side girls upset Grace 27-22 on Saturday night in a defensive struggle.

In the second quarter, the Pirates shut out the Grizzlies to take an 11-10 lead into halftime. Things didn't go much better in the second half.

"We just couldn't get it going, basically," said Grace coach Kevin Smith.

Kathryn Rider scored nine points to lead West Side, while Nikki Hobbs scored a game-high 10 to lead the Grizzlies.

Grace - which played without standout Kylee Jensen - fell to 13-3 overall and 5-2 in 2A Fifth District play. West Side improved to 4-13 overall and 2-4 in leauge play.

The Grizzlies now have a week off to heal up and rest before Soda Springs comes to town on Jan. 31.

North Gem 71, Rockland 32

BANCROFT - North Gem shut down Rockland standout Whitney Woodworth in a 71-32 home win Saturday.

"They seemed kind of lost without her ever touching the ball," North Gem coach Corry Hatch said.

Woodworth scored four points. Kambrie Munk led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

North Gem led 52-15 at the half. Natalie Simons led all scorers with 17 points, while Cowboys teammate Bailey Simmons had 16.

"We would push the ball on a fast-break just about every time, rebounds, steals whatever," Hatch said.

North Gem (12-7, 5-1 1A Rocky Mountain) next hosts Mackay on Thursday.

Filer 43, Snake River 37

FILER - The Filer girls' basketball team started making it shots at the right time, sending Snake River home with a 43-37 loss on Saturday.

The Panthers led 30-27 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats hit seven field goals in the final frame from outside the paint to grab the victory.

"They just got really hot from the perimeter," said Snake River coach Steven Morton.

Kaitlyn Harker led the Panthers with 17 points, while Saige Goff added 11.

After Friday's 56-26 3A Fifth District win over American Falls and Saturday's loss, Snake River is 12-6 overall and 4-0 in league play. The Panthers host Bear Lake on Thursday.
