The Boise State men’s basketball team will be losing what was going to be a key piece for its 2026-27 season.

Forward Drew Fielder will be entering the transfer portal, according to multiple reports Monday, after one season with the Broncos.

The Boise native came back home last season, transferring from Georgetown and led the Broncos this past season with 14.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game. Had he returned, he likely would have been the centerpiece for the Broncos’ roster next season, which as of now will have to replace at least four starters next season.

RJ Keene entered the transfer portal last weekend, while both Dylan Andrews and Javan Buchanan ran out of college eligibility. On Monday, On3 Sports reported that Buchanan, who began his college career at Indiana Wesleyan, was planning to enter the transfer portal, but that move is likely in order to allow him to keep his options open should a ruling come down that provides former NAIA and junior college players an extra year of eligibility in 2026-27.

Fielder began his high school career at Rocky Mountain High before transferring to Southern California Academy for his junior and senior seasons. The No. 16 center in the nation from the Class of 2023, he originally committed to Providence out of high school but followed coach Ed Cooley to Georgetown when he took the job there in March 2023. After two seasons with the Hoyas, Fielder entered the transfer portal after the 2024-25 season and committed to USC before flipping to Boise State two days later.

At Boise State he had 10 games with at least 20 points, including a career-high 33 points in the Broncos’ 86-77 win against San Diego State, the last home game of the season.

As of now, Andrew Meadow is the lone starter slated to return to the Broncos next season.
