The lowdown: Mills was Blackfoot's workhorse, starting 11 games on the mound. The right-hander racked up 1.2 strikeouts per inning, including a season-high 10 punch outs in the 4A District 5-6 tournament semifinals. Opponents hit .199 off Mills.

CATCHER

Payton Campbell, Jr., Marsh Valley

Stats: .365 avg., 2 HR, 26 RBI, 41 R

The lowdown: Campbell was a catalyst for the 3A District 5 champions, piling up 12 extra-base hits and 10 stolen bases while gunning down 8 of 21 would-be base stealers (38.1 percent) from behind the plate. He struck out twice in 100 plate appearances.

Quotable: “Maybe the best hitter we saw all year. Defensively, he's as good a defensive catcher as I've seen, ever.” — Snake River coach James Carter.

INFIELD

Quinton Standley, Sr., Pocatello

Stats: .372 avg., 2 HR, 23 RBI, 1.075 OPS

The lowdown: Standley did it all for Pocatello. He caught 124 1/3 innings, pitched 22 frames and played a steady first base. One of the most lethal power bats in the area, Standley drew 23 walks and reached base 56 times for a .523 on-base percentage. His 4.14 ERA was a team best.

Quotable: “He's the type of kid that every coach is going to want on his team. Humble, hard-working. You're not stealing on him. Unless the ball was in the dirt, we were not going to run on Q.” — Blackfoot coach Liam Pope.

JD Wilkins, Sr., Malad

Stats: .427 avg., 3 HR, 15 SB

The lowdown: Wilkins was Malad's most consistent player. He played shortstop, was the cleanup hitter and pitched a team-high 49 innings. He struck out 40 batters against nine walks, had a 1.57 ERA and a 0.939 WHIP to go with a .935 fielding percentage. Wilkins recorded a hit in 18 of 23 games and ended the season on a 10-game hitting streak.

Kolmon Farnsworth, Sr., Highland

Stats: .413 avg., 2 HR, 9 doubles, 34 R

The lowdown: Farnsworth was Highland's steady presence in the middle of the batting order. He had hitting streaks of seven and eight games this season and led the Rams with 34 runs and a 1.182 OPS.

Quotable: “He was just an outstanding leader. His work ethic is second to none.” — Highland coach Christian Colonel.

Trei Hough, Jr. Pocatello

Trei Hough Runnin Rebels

Runnin Rebels’ third baseman Trei Hough fields a grounder and makes the throw to first base for the out against Jerome in the second inning of the second game of a doubleheader July 7 at Halliwell Park.

Stats: .400 avg., 15 RBI

The lowdown: Hough led Pocatello with a .400 batting average and raised it to .447 against 4A District 5-6 competition. He was also second on the team with 31 2/3 innings pitched, and his 1.705 WHIP was a team best.

Quotable: “Trei Hough was the bomb. … Trei really played well when we played against them.” — Century coach Duane Rawlings.

OUTFIELD

Sam Liday, Sr., Highland

Stats: .395 avg., 29 RBI, 23 R

The lowdown: Liday was Highland's offensive muscle, raking one home run, 10 doubles and five triples for a team-best .679 slugging percentage. He was hitting .543 before a late-season slump.

Quotable: “Sam goes about his business the right way.” — Highland coach Christian Colonel.

Caden May, Sr., Marsh Valley

Stats: .338 avg., 24 RBI, 27 R

The lowdown: May was a dual threat for Marsh Valley, with 10 extra-base hits and 10 stolen bases on offense and a 1.81 ERA in 46 1/3 innings on the mound.

Quotable: “Had a very solid bat. … He was a stud. He ended up with an awesome ERA.” — Marsh Valley coach Kent Howell.

Caleb Wilson, Sr., Blackfoot

Blackfoot/Century 2

Century’s Skyler Warner (2) is late to tag Blackfoot’s Caleb Wilson during their game this season at Halliwell Park.

Stats: .287 avg., 18 R, 16 SB

The lowdown: Wilson's speed was on display on offense and defense, as he tracked down balls gap to gap in the outfield and swiped 16 bases in 18 tries. He made two errors in 39 chances and had two outfield assists.

Quotable: “He had the highest number of stolen bases in our conference. He covered a (ton) of ground in the outfield. … Very strong defensively.” — Blackfoot coach Liam Pope.

DESIGNATED HITTER/UTILITY

Kolby Driessen, Jr., Malad

Stats: .486 avg., 3 HR, 30 RBI, 20 SB

The lowdown: Driessen was close to a sure thing on offense, boasting a .486/.606/.742 slash line, 1.349 OPS and a coveted combination of speed and power as Malad's leadoff hitter. He was also the Dragons' starting catcher and made one error in 115 chances.

Quotable: “His work behind the plate was excellent. I didn't have to call one pitch or one throw down with him. He just took over out there.” — Malad coach TC Williams.

Cayden Cornell, Jr., Blackfoot

Stats: 3-3, 2.35 ERA, 46 K, 13 BB

The lowdown: Cornell equaled staff ace Payson Mills with 53 2/3 innings pitched and added a team-best 3.5:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He also hit .294 with one home run and 15 RBIs.

CATCHER

Emerson Stucki, Sr., Blackfoot

Stats: .361 avg., 1 HR, 13 RBI

The lowdown: Stucki handled duties behind the plate and on the mound for Blackfoot. He drew 20 walks for a team-best .509 on-base percentage and went 4-3 with a 3.71 ERA and 3.4:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 51 innings pitched.

INFIELD

Joseph Maddox, Sr., Blackfoot

Stats: .340 avg., 15 RBI, 15 R

The lowdown: Maddox was rock-solid at first base for Blackfoot, committing one error in 200 chances for a .995 fielding percentage.

Austin Losser, Sr., Century

Stats: .412 avg., 4 triples

The lowdown: Losser was Century's best hitter and balanced his offensive duties with playing shortstop on defense. He also had a team-best 11 extra-base hits and was Century's only hitter with an OPS over 1.000 (1.089).

Payton Cleaves, Jr., Pocatello

Stats: .368 avg., 33 R

The lowdown: Cleaves got things started atop the Indians' batting order. He cashed in with a .509 on-base percentage and led the team in runs (33) and stolen bases (seven).

Trever Howe, Soph., Malad

Stats: .479 avg., 1 HR, 23 RBI

The lowdown: Howe was a Swiss Army knife for Malad. He slugged at a .643 clip as the No. 3 hitter in the lineup, had a .927 fielding percentage as the team's third baseman and went 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA in 30 innings on the mound.

OUTFIELD

Ben Ditton, Sr., Century

Stats: .222 avg., 13 R

The lowdown: Ditton was lauded as a premier defensive center fielder, and he made up for a lack of hits with a team-leading 15 walks. Seven of his 16 hits went for extra bases, including four triples.

Grayson Hunt, Jr., Highland

Stats: .279 avg., 2 HR

The lowdown: Hunt emerged as one of Highland's best hitters in conference games, elevating his average to .333. He also had a 4-1 record and team-leading 2.28 ERA.

Justin Hubbard, Sr., Malad

Stats: .350 avg., 24 RBI, 15 SB

The lowdown: Hubbard roamed center field for the Dragons and was an offensive spark plug with 26 runs and eight extra-base hits. Malad coach TC Williams called Hubbard the best center fielder he's ever coached.

Taisom Casper, Jr., Pocatello

Stats: .388 avg., 23 RBI, 7 doubles

The lowdown: Casper was one of Pocatello's most reliable hitters, racking up eight multi-hit games, a .436 average with runners in scoring position and a team-best .528 on-base percentage. As the backup catcher, he threw out 4 of 14 would-be base stealers.
