KOOSKIA — Three motorcyclists are dead and a Colorado woman is under arrest after a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 12 in north central Idaho on Tuesday afternoon.

Idaho State Police said the 60-year-old woman from Colorado Springs, driving a westbound 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck, collided with the three motorcyclists around 4 p.m. after crossing the double yellow centerline in a marked no-passing zone east of Kooskia while attempting to pass another vehicle.

All three motorcyclists died at the scene. Their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin by the Idaho County Coroner’s Office.

The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. Following her release she was arrested and booked into the Idaho County Jail in Grangeville on probable cause for three counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Her name hasn’t been released.

U.S. Highway 12 was closed for approximately six and a half hours while emergency responders worked the scene and investigators processed evidence.

State police were assisted by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, the Idaho County Coroner’s Office, the Idaho Transportation Department and local fire and EMS personnel. The crash remains under investigation.
