POCATELLO — Area residents can usher in the autumnal season with beer, bratwurst and stylish lederhosen when the second annual Oktoberfest returns at Lookout Point Saturday.

Kegs will be tapped and steins raised in salutation of Gate City’s Oktoberfest, which will feature over 30 German-style craft beers, authentic food and live music provided by the Idaho Rovers and The Kyd-J band.

Community members are invited to indulge in fall favorites from local breweries and Intermountain West distributors this Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. For only $30 in advance or $40 at the door, guests can guzzle and gulp their way through a variety of feisty ales, hair-curling stouts and hearty hefeweizens.

Local breweries this year include Pocatello favorites The Martlet, Jim Dandy Brewing and Off the Rails Brewing along with Lava Hot Springs mainstay Eruption Brewery & Bistro.

Wanderlust Craft Beer Taproom & Wine Bar will also be hosting a pre-party event on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will be joining the festivities the next day for Oktoberfest itself. Regional and national beers will additionally be on tap for patrons to enjoy.

This year will also see the debut of fun T-shirts available for purchase along with the inclusion of a pinball machine and games provided by local arcade bar Barricade. Food trucks will also be serving up German style favorites to pair with the festive fall beverages.

From Karwendel Kolschs, Blood Orange Hefeweizens, Wildcat Hazys to Oktoberfest style Festbier, a Bavarian Belt Breaker, Marzens and more, this Saturday is sure to be a seminal fall celebration in Historic Downtown Pocatello.

“We’ve been hosting Gate City Brewfest cooperatively for 15 years,” said Stephanie Palagi, president and CEO of Historic Downtown Pocatello. “We started with Brewfest 2 and had the opportunity to change it into an Oktoberfest where we could celebrate German style beers, food and bring some German music in. It’s just an opportunity before the weather really changes to have one more good fundraising event.”
