IONA — The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at approximately 11:55 a.m. Sunday involving a shed located in the backyard of a residence in Iona.

Upon arrival, crews from Engine 2 found the shed fully involved in flames. Firefighters quickly deployed two attack lines and began suppression efforts. Engine 6 arrived shortly after and assisted Engine 2, along with Ambulance 2 and Ambulance 6, in advancing hose lines and supporting fire attack operations.

Engine 4 secured a nearby hydrant and established a water supply to support ongoing firefighting efforts. Ladder 1 crews conducted primary searches of both the shed and the residence to ensure no occupants were inside. At the time of arrival, no individuals were present, and both structures were confirmed clear.

Firefighters successfully contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby structures. The fire has been fully extinguished. Local law enforcement provided traffic control support during the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation. Estimated damage is approximately $40,000. The contents of the shed are also unknown at this time.
