POCATELLO — A powerful gust knocked an airplane off the runway at Pocatello Regional Airport late Thursday afternoon.
The 4:20 p.m. incident occurred shortly after the single-engine plane had landed at the airport and come to a stop on the runway, authorities said.
A strong gust then reportedly pushed the plane off the runway, causing minor damage to the aircraft.
No one on the plane suffered injuries but the incident prompted a large response by the Pocatello Fire Department, authorities said.
East Idaho is currently under a wind advisory until 9 p.m. Thursday calling for 50 mph gusts. The National Weather Service’s office at the airport reported that the maximum gust there on Thursday was 54 mph at 5:20 p.m.
