BLACKFOOT — In what the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office says was the most dangerous and destructive chase its deputies have ever been involved in, two local men were arrested after allegedly leading law enforcement officers from multiple agencies on a high-speed pursuit Thursday evening that ended with the suspects’ vehicle and a state trooper’s car being destroyed by a field fire.
The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Beaumont C. Pandoah, 23, of Fort Hall, and Daylin Lee Farmer, 23, of Pocatello. If convicted of the many charges against them, each man is facing a maximum sentence of over 50 years in prison.
The brazen pursuit through Blackfoot saw a drunk Pandoah, the driver of the suspects’ car, attempting to run over a Bingham County sheriff’s deputy who was on foot and crashing into a state police car, the Sheriff’s Office said. The pursuit ended with a field fire that destroyed the state police car and suspects’ vehicle.

The chase began around 7:45 p.m. Thursday on Park Street in Blackfoot when Pandoah crashed his silver Volkswagen Jetta car into a parked vehicle.
As Pandoah attempted to drive away, a Bingham County sheriff’s deputy who was on foot approached the Jetta. Pandoah then unsuccessfully attempted to run over the deputy prior to speeding away from the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Bingham County sheriff’s deputies in patrol vehicles then chased the Jetta down Park Street and onto Highway 91, the Sheriff’s Office said. The pursuit continued onto East Alice Street, Pendlebury Lane and Christensen Drive.
An Idaho State Police trooper joined the chase as Pandoah crashed the Jetta through a fence on Christensen, collided with the trooper’s car and then crashed through another fence on Christensen before driving into a grain field, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The trooper then used what’s called a PIT maneuver to nudge the Jetta with his patrol car, causing the Jetta to spin out of control in the grain field and come to a halt, the Sheriff’s Office said.
When the Jetta finally stopped, it caught on fire after its hot exhaust pipe ignited part of the grain field, and the flames soon spread to the adjacent trooper’s car.
The trooper and sheriff’s deputies removed Pandoah and Farmer from the Jetta just before the flames consumed it and the trooper’s car.
The Blackfoot Fire Department responded and extinguished the burning field and cars.
Pandoah was not injured but Farmer suffered minor burns during the incident and was transported via ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital for treatment. Farmer was then transported by sheriff’s deputies to Bingham County Jail, where both he and Pandoah are currently being held.
The Sheriff’s Office said no law enforcement officers were injured during the chase and no officers fired any shots at the suspects.
Pandoah has been charged with driving under the influence, felony eluding and four counts of assault/battery on a law enforcement officer for the chase. Farmer is being charged with two counts of assault/battery on a law enforcement officer and two counts of resisting arrest. He also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
Neither suspect was armed when arrested, the Sheriff’s Office said.
State police said it will cost about $50,000 to replace their destroyed patrol car.
