Pocatello resident Joe Jenkins signed a plea agreement on Feb. 23 agreeing to plead guilty to two felonies and two misdemeanors which occurred in Teton County, Idaho.

Jenkins was initially charged with four felonies and ten misdemeanors across multiple counties, including Teton County, Idaho. The remainder of the charges against Jenkins were filed in Power and Caribou Counties, all of which would be dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

District Judge Stephen Boyce heard Jenkins’ guilty pleas on March 3. Judge Boyce will review a pre-sentencing investigation before determining the sentence and whether to accept the plea. Jenkins faces a possible lifetime revocation of his hunting license, a $9,750 fine, jail time or probation, and a loss of rights applicable to felons.

Jenkins agreed to plead guilty to two felonies, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and unlawful possession of wildlife exceeding $1,000 in value in the form of a harvested black bear. Jenkins was previously convicted of felony theft in Bonneville County.

Jenkins also pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors for acting in the capacity as a guide without a license and unlawful bear baiting. The case was the result of a multi-year Idaho Fish and Game investigation into Jenkins guiding several hunters without a license and using unlawful practices to harvest bears.

Sentencing for Jenkins is scheduled for June 2.
