POCATELLO — Frank Angley, the man who had $728 stolen from him and was left to die as he crouched in his driveway suffering from a heart attack, proved just how resilient he is.

    On Monday afternoon, Angley, 49, underwent surgery at Portneuf Medical Center to install stents in his heart. By 7 p.m., he was home from the hospital and planning to report to work at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

    His daughter, Kelsey Angley, said she’s proud of her dad and relieved by his progress.

    “Brave, strong, hard-headed, stubborn — they’re all kind of the same,” Kelsey said. “I’m just glad that he pulled through and he’s going to be okay. He is having a lot of pain, but he feels like he needs the money and has to go to work.”

of cancer a few years ago, and the thought of losing her father too was horrific for 18-year-old Kelsey.

    Kelsey said doctors reported that her father’s heart is functioning at about 25 percent, and he will need a pacemaker or defibrillator in the near future.

    Frank had his first heart attack in November 2013 and received four stents. Following another episode in February 2014, he received three more stents. Frank has also survived a stroke and a brain aneurysm over the past several years.

    A fundraising effort to help pay for Frank’s medical expenses and his lost paycheck was set up at www.gofundme.com/pk7d8s. And as of Monday, $1,010 had been raised with an ultimate goal of $3,000.

    Donations to benefit Frank can also be made at any Citizens Community Bank: the account number for donations is 1010200022555.

    The person who set up the accounts wishes to remain anonymous, but said the account will remain open for the next two weeks with all money being presented to Frank on April 6.

    Kelsey said the outpouring of support from the community touched her father.

    “This has restored our faith in humanity,” Kelsey said. “Thank you all for your support for my dad and me.”

    Frank’s recent ordeal started at about 3 p.m. Friday when he left his job at Powers Candy early because he wasn’t feeling well. He cashed his check before heading home.

    But as he pulled into his driveway on West Carson Street, extreme pain filled his chest.

    Frank opened his car door, stepped out and tried to reach a bottle of nitro pills in his front pants pocket. He managed to unscrew the lid of the bottle but fell to his knees, scattering the pills in front of him.

    Frank found his cellphone, but was unable to make the call to 911.

    Then he heard a male voice behind him and for minute thought that he was being rescued. But that was not the case.

    His best friend, Cory Thornley, rushed to Frank’s home 20 minutes later after he called and heard groaning on the other end of the line.

    When the hospital asked for his insurance information, Frank realized that his wallet was missing. Kelsey returned to the driveway to search for the wallet and found it tossed onto the front seat of Frank’s vehicle. But his cash, about $728, was missing.

    Police said Saturday they planned to check surveillance cameras at Duffy’s Bar and a service station near Frank’s home. Lt. Paul Manning said there is currently no suspect in the case. He said anyone with information about the crime is urged to call Pocatello police at (208) 234-6110.
