MONTPELIER — The City of Montpelier has joined forces with the Montpelier Community Foundation to purchase two new picnic tables for Heritage Park.

The picnic tables will be assembled by Shaun Tobler and Jim Griglack of the Montpelier Rotary Club, according to a news release from the Montpelier Community Foundation.

There are now six total picnic tables at the park for visitors to use. In the past year, the park was used for many family reunions, concerts and other events that led to the demand for more tables.

The Rotary Club made donations to pay for the water filling station as it is a supporter of Heritage Park. It also helped to acquire a new sound system that allowed the park to hold concerts and movie nights last year.

Other additions that are being made to Heritage Park include new restrooms and a bronze statue of Butch Cassidy sitting on a bench that's available for photo ops. Fundraising is underway for these projects.
