A Pocatello teenager was airlifted to Portneuf Medical Center Thursday night after crashing his dirt bike on a backcountry trail in the Scout Mountain area south of Pocatello.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m., authorities said. Bannock County sheriff's deputies and search and rescue personnel responded and requested an emergency helicopter to transport the boy to PMC in Pocatello.

PMC's helicopter was unavailable, so a Lifeflight Network helicopter from Burley was called in instead. It landed near the scene around 10 p.m. and flew the boy to PMC for treatment.

The boy's name and condition have not been released.
