The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about elk moving down from the mountains toward highways.
“It’s that magical time of year again when our local elk decide to take their grand migration stroll … right across our highways,” stated the office on its Facebook page. “They’re majestic, they’re massive, and they do not use crosswalks!”
The Sheriff’s Office also urged travelers to be cautious while driving and to slow down on the roadways.
“DO NOT stop in the middle of the roadway to gawk or take pictures,” it said. “We love wildlife, but we also love not causing accidents.”
