ARIMO — Firefighters from several departments responded to a wildfire burning west of Arimo on Friday.

The blaze was reported by a local resident around 4:50 p.m. Friday near South Hawkins Road, authorities said.

The fire was burning in fields and consumed more than five acres before being extinguished by firefighters around 9 p.m. Friday.

Authorities said the blaze did not result in any injuries and there were no evacuations because the flames were not threatening any homes or other structures.

The Arimo, McCammon, Inkom and Downey fire departments responded to the fire along with Bannock County sheriff’s deputies.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
