Personnel from the Idaho Falls Fire Department quickly brought a chicken coop fire under control early Wednesday morning off West Broadway Street.

Dispatch received a call at 5:40 a.m. about a chicken coop located between two trailer homes being on fire, said Hayli Egbert, fire department spokeswoman.

The fire also damaged one neighboring trailer home and destroyed a nearby vehicle, Egbert said. Residents may be displaced from the damaged trailer.

One resident sustained minor injuries but declined treatment by emergency medical services at the scene, Egbert said.

The chicken coop was a total loss with 13 chickens dying in the fire, Egbert said. Total damages from the incident are estimated at $30,000.

The fire department responded with three engines, one ladder truck, three ambulances and one battalion chief, Egbert said. Intermountain Gas, Rocky Mountain Power and a chaplain also responded.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
