LOGAN — Angie’s Restaurant announced last week it will host a fundraiser on June 16 for the Babb family, who reside in Preston. Joshua Babb is recovering from life-threatening injuries sustained in a car wreck near Cove on May 13.

Angie’s Owner Saboor Sahely told The Herald Journal the restaurant will donate 20% of its sales revenue generated from 4-9 p.m.

“We read about the accident in The Herald Journal,” Sahely said last Wednesday. “Helping Joshua is our way of giving back to our community that has supported us for 43 years. It is very important that we get a huge response from the community to raise funds for Joshua, who needs help paying his medical bills.”

Ben and Mandy Babb, Joshua Babb’s parents, spoke with The Herald Journal just a week after their son’s wreck, saying doctors diagnosed him with a fractured L2 vertebrae, two broken ankles, two brain bleeds, a severe concussion, and a fractured sternum and nose.

Though their son’s initial outlook caused serious concerns, Ben Babb said, “He’s getting better.

“Every day he’s showing us something new that he can do; his eyes are opening a little bit more, his voice is getting a little bit stronger every day. The confusion is still there … but (it) is getting better.”

The Babbs did not immediately respond to a request for an update, regarding their son, though Sahely told The Herald Journal of the family’s gratitude, last week.

Just as the community proved its willingness to support Sahely during COVID-19, saying, “During (COVID-19) the community stepped up and helped us keep our doors open,” Sahely hopes it will do so once again.
