POCATELLO - Swore Farms and Bannock County Young Farmers and Ranchers have announced the winners of the second annual Pumpkin Land decorating contest at Swore Farms.
All entries were made out of garden produce and created by students. All visitors to Swore Farms during the last half of October were invited to vote for their favorite pumpkin display. There were a total of 1,973 votes cast. The prize money goes towards the classroom or school.
First place and $100 goes to Mrs. Bray's class of Washington Elementary School for the "Tin Man."
Second place and $50 goes to Mrs. Foster's class of Hillcrest Elementary School for the "Grinch."
Third place and $30 does to Mrs. Fullerton's class of Washington Elementary School for the "Books Fall In."
Honorable mentions and $20 go to: Mr. Blaur's class of Hillcrest Elementary School for their "Cat in the Hat," Mrs. Keplar's class of Lewis and Clark Elementary School for their "Esio Trot- Tortise," and Mrs. Mickelsen's class of Gate City Elementary School for their "Wizard's Chess Set."
For the high school division:
First place and $50 goes to Cheryle Spall of Pocatello High School's media center for her "Annibelle Lee."
Second place and $30 goes to Mr. Beason's class of Pocatello High for their "Emo Boy."
The Farm Favorite Award and $30 goes to Stephanie Akina's class form the Idaho State University K-2 Partnership or their "House that was Haunted."
The sum of $350 was contributed to local schools.
A special thanks to all the classes who brought cans out for our first annual food drive. A total of 600 pounds of canned food was raised for the Idaho Foodbank.
