MALAD — The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that a Malad man is accused of viewing child pornography at the local library.

Tim Thorpe is charged with child-sexual exploitation by willfully possessing or accessing sexually exploitative material.

According to law enforcement reports, deputies received a report of child pornography allegedly being viewed at the Oneida County Library.

An investigation was initiated, and evidence was seized in the case.

Oneida County officials handed the investigation off to Tri-County Sheriff’s Investigators because of possible conflicts with employees and because the library is a county facility.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Tri-County Investigators that there was probable cause to make an arrest, and charges were filed against Thorpe on Oct. 19. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Nov. 3, and Thorpe is free after posting a $2,500 bond.

Tri-County Sheriff’s Association and Homeland Security are continuing the investigation and will disclose what was found on a computer that was seized.
